CORAOPOLIS, Pa. — A man was rescued from a home in Coraopolis as firefighters battled flames that spread from wood chips for a barbecue early Monday morning, officials said.
The fire broke out about 3:30 a.m. on State Avenue.
Police officers went into the home to get the man out and to safety, officials said. Paramedics were then seen evaluating him. Officials said he is OK.
Investigators said wood chips were smoldering from a barbecue and caught the back porch on fire. Flames then spread to the kitchen and up to the roof.
