Police say ‘dangerous’ game with BB guns needs to stop in Washington

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Kids are driving around and shooting at each other with BB guns as part of a game that police in Washington say needs to stop.

Police say the game, called Assassin, causes “very dangerous situations.” The BB guns look like real guns.

In one case, a group was waving a BB gun out of a moving vehicle, which was stopped by police. The car was spotted in the area of Hall Avenue and an officer, with gun drawn, ordered the four people inside to get out, according to a police report.

The officer put the four people in handcuffs for his safety, and he searched the car. The BB gun was found under a seat.

Parents are being urged by police to talk to their kids about putting an end to the game.

One mother told Channel 11 News her 13-year-old son was walking to a friend’s house when he was hit in the leg by a BB.

“Stop being careless. Like, use the sense that God gave them, and I know that their parents are probably embarrassed and, you know, because I’m sure they weren’t taught to be like that,” the mother, who did not want to be identified, said.

The Washington School District released the following statement:

“The situation involving the game ‘Assassin’ is currently under investigation. Our district administration is working with city and school police to keep our students and community safe.”
