JEFFERSON HILLS, Pa. — A semi-truck driver has died after a crash in hillside in Jefferson Hills.
The crash happened just before 4 p.m. on Payne Hill Road.
Investigators said the truck was the only vehicle involved, and went over the hillside while having trouble with a sharp turn.
During the crash, the truck went through a guide rail and knocked over a utility pole.
Because of live wires on the truck, officers were unable to get to the truck. Once the crash scene was safe, medics pronounced the driver dead.
Route 51 was partially blocked below the crash scene for a short time because the steel coils the truck had been carrying landed in the road.
The driver was identified Wednesday night as 64-year-old Joseph Norman Tanck of Hartford.
