South Fayette bar, restaurant still recovering after getting swamped by Ida’s remnants

SOUTH FAYETTE, Pa. — McClelland’s Public House in South Fayette has been closed for weeks after it was swamped by flooding caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida.

“We lost all of our vital equipment that requires us to be able to open and run the business,” said Jeffrey Lynn, the owner.

Lynn said there was about 6 feet of water in the basement and it took days to pump it out. He lost the ice machines, walk-in coolers and water heaters along with everything in his office.

“It was very devastating,” he said. “I’ve worked pretty much my adult life to be able to own my own place and I got this place two years ago. And now this.”

Lynn estimates the damage at about $40,000. He said he and his staff had to weather COVID-19 and now this is insult to injury. But he said his staff has been outstanding through all of it.

“I can’t express enough how awesome it is to have some loyal people, especially in the climate today. Just trying to find employees. I’m lucky that I have a pretty solid staff,” Lynn said.
