According to a statement from Giant Eagle:
“The safety of our Team Members and guests is always our top priority. To more closely align with public safety efforts in the South Side while continuing to meet the needs of neighborhood residents, we made the decision to temporarily change the closing time of our South Side Giant Eagle from 10 p.m. nightly to 9 p.m.
“There is currently no end date for this temporary shift in hours. We continue to monitor all developments in the community and will regularly evaluate reinstating traditional store operating hours.”

The operational changes follow new public safety rules put in place by city officials for the South Side. Those include shutting down parts of East Carson Street to only allow outbound traffic, closing side streets to vehicle traffic, and not permitting ride-sharing services to operate in certain parts of the neighborhood.
