State to suspend vehicle registrations of drivers with unpaid turnpike tolls

Thousands of Pennsylvania drivers who’ve used the Turnpike could have their vehicle registration pulled in a month if they haven’t paid their tolls.

State officials put drivers on notice Wednesday that they have a month to pay up, or their registration will be suspended.

Officials with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission said drivers owe the state more than $17 million in unpaid tolls.

Allegheny County drivers owe more than $913,000, while Westmoreland County drivers owe nearly $880,000. The Gateway Exchange in Lawrence County ranks 10th-worst in the state for drivers who don’t pay at the toll.
