Washington County girl who beat kidney disease helping other kids

A young girl who beat a rare kidney disease is now in remission and helping other children.

Alexis "Lexi" Hatfield, along with her family and friends, participated in the third annual Nephcure Walk on Sunday.

Lexi, of Washington, Pennsylvania, was diagnosed with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, also known as FSGS, a rare disease that attacks the kidneys.

She underwent a kidney transplant in 2014, but the disease reoccurred and put her kidney in jeopardy. To fight the disease, doctors started an experimental treatment.

when she was in the hospital before she went into remission.
