PITTSBURGH — The woman accused of attacking a school crossing guard in Brighton Heights last month will be headed to trial.
Eureka Branson is accused of attacking crossing guard April Taylor at the corner of Brighton Road and Benton Avenue. Police said Branson got off the bus and went after Taylor, pushing her into a pole, punching and choking her.
Two men broke up the fight, investigators said.
Taylor told police she doesn't know Branson and has no idea why she came after her.
Her attorney said the alleged attack left his client shaken up physically and emotionally.
"She's a city worker. She works in a public service field. She deals with children and the community members. She's well-liked, well-received and for someone to actively have such an aggressive nature in the public going after someone just shows the disregard for the law," Taylor’s attorney, Fred Rabner, said.

Taylor said the attack left her with sprained neck muscles, a damaged retina, broken finger, headaches and a back injury.
When Channel 11 asked Branson if she had anything to say about the case, she said, "Self-defense."
Channel 11 learned Branson allegedly threatened Taylor a few days before the alleged attack.
The crossing guard hasn't been back to work since the alleged attack.
The case is now headed to trial.
