Wanted Man Breaks Leg While Fleeing From Belle Vernon Police

BELLE VERNON, Pa.,None — Police have charged a 26-year-old Monessen man accused of fleeing police following a traffic stop Belle Vernon Tuesday night.

Police said Quinton Martin ran a stop sign shortly before 10 p.m. at the intersection of State and Main streets in Belle Vernon. Officers pulled his vehicle over along Interstate 70, where they said Martin identified himself as Quinton Green.

During their investigation, officers were able correctly identify Martin. They also found out there were warrants out for his arrest.

As the officers tried to take Martin into custody, he fled on foot, police said. The officers called for backup and were able to find Martin a short time later in a ravine. Police said he was badly injured, bleeding from a head wound and suffering from a broken leg.

Rescue crews pulled Martin to safety and flew him to a Allegheny General Hospital.

Martin was wanted for warrants stemming from burglary and drug charges. Martin has since been charged with escape, fleeing to avoid apprehension and disorderly conduct, among other charges. He's currently being held in the Westmoreland County Jail.
