Police said Lakisha Robinson, 29, of the North Side, was shot at about 2 a.m. along East Ohio Street in a courtyard area of Allegheny Commons. Friends and neighbors held a vigil in honor of Robinson on Thursday night.

Police said there was a report of five people fighting and screaming. Investigators said Lewis fired shots and then fled the scene. When officers arrived, they found Robinson with a gunshot wound to her chest.

"I heard the shooting, but that's usual around here, because it happens every other day around here," said neighbor Elizabeth Freeman.

"It was a very physical altercation," said Pittsburgh police Cmdr. Thomas Stangrecki. "(We) believe it started as words between two people and escalated to a full-fledged fight between multiple people."

Robinson was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, where she died a short time later.

"The gunman was probably involved in the fight," said Stangrecki. "We are trying to backtrack and see what point he entered the fight."

Authorities said Robinson lived in the apartment complex with her two young children.

Channel 11 News was there when Robinson's grieving mother stopped by to pick up some of her daughter's belongings.

The woman was so distraught she could hardly speak, but she told Channel 11 News that Robinson was a beautiful person who was supposed to move in two weeks.

A second victim, Richard Edge, 24, was grazed in the arm by a bullet. He was taken to AGH, where he was treated and released.

Lewis is described as 31-year-old black man, 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighing about 120 pounds. Police said Lewis is known to frequent the North Side area. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Pittsburgh police.
