AUSTIN, Tx. — A woman in Texas has been charged with animal cruelty for nearly running her dog to death, again.
Esmeralda Escobar, 51, was arrested on Monday after officers found her 10-year-old Border Collie whimpering and in distress.

Escobar admitted she had taken Oliver for a run in the heat of the day and said she wasn't planning to get him treatment.
Police say that just last month Escober's other dog, a 3-year-old Australian Shepherd, died of heat stroke in a park during a similar run.
When challenged about her choice of running partners, Esobar defended herself by saying the dogs were "running dogs" and built to run in the heat.
She went on to say both cases were accidents.
