One New Zealand artist is now offering some children a much cooler, more realistic alternative -- airbrush tattoos.

Benjamin Lloyd, of the Bay of Plenty, has been in the business of airbrushing for a decade, but he just started airbrushing tattoos within the last couple of months, Yahoo News reported.
He started out giving the tattoos to adults and later found joy in doing them for children.

"It's just amazing watching their confidence and their ego boost up," Lloyd told Mashable. "The only bad thing is that they don't want to take a shower afterwards."

Lloyd takes design requests from children, then creates masterpieces on their bodies in about nine minutes.

"(It's) a real challenge, as you need to be quite fast," he said.

Sunday he uploaded a video of himself giving a young boy an airbrushed tattoo on his Facebook page.

In a 36-second sped-up video, Lloyd shows the "tattooing" process.

He also posted a photo of the finished product on the boy.

"Nothing brings me more joy than boosting a kids confidence with a custom tattoo. (If I get) 50 likes (on this post,) I'll go to Starship Hospital and tat all the kids up," he wrote in the photo's caption.
The photo was liked more than 300,000 times.
"Well, it looks like I'm off to Starship!" he later posted.
Lloyd had no idea the post would garner so much attention.

"I went to sleep, and it had gone crazy overnight," he said.

It's unclear when Lloyd will visit Starship Children's Health, but the artist promised fans it would be soon and encouraged people to stay tuned to his Facebook page for updates.

"I promise no kid at Starship will go without," he wrote on the social media site. "I will be having a film crew following me around on the day."
