WELLSBURG, W.Va.,None — Police said a man suspected of killing his wife and 8-year-old stepson in northern West Virginia has been found dead in Harrisburg, Pa.
Police searched for Abraham Allen for 10 hours after 31-year-old Melinda Allen and Ethan Brown were found dead in their Wellsburg home Wednesday night.
Allen's 2-year-old boy was found unharmed.
Neighbors Channel 11 spoke with on Thursday said Ethan Brown was always looking out for his younger brother.
"He protected his little brother. It seemed like he was always his overseer. They were always out back, playing ball or on the trampoline or in the swimming pool," said neighbor Harold Jones.
Wellsburg police say authorities in the Harrisburg area told them Allen's car had been spotted outside a home. When a SWAT team entered, they found a man they believe to be Allen dead from self-inflicted wounds.
His stepson attended Franklin Primary school in Wellsburg. A crisis intervention team will be at the school Thursday.
The 2-year-old is now in the custody of his grandparents.
Police have not released a motive for the killings.
