PITTSBURGH — After speaking with National Football League officials Tuesday, Steelers defensive end Cam Heyward released a statement, saying he’ll no longer wear his “Iron Head” eye black, which served as a tribute to his father.
The league had fined Heyward for two straight weeks after he wrote “Iron Head” on his eye black. Heyward's father, Craig Heyward, went by "Ironhead" during a standout career at Pitt and then another 11 years in the NFL as a running back for four teams. The elder Heyward died after a long fight with cancer in 2006.

Heyward said in his statement released Tuesday evening that he’ll continue to pay tribute to his father and others battling cancer in other ways, including through a new charitable partnership with EyeBlack.com.
