Winners Announced For 2010 Henry Mancini Awards

BEAVER FALLS, Pa.,None — The 16th annual Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards were held at Geneva College on Wednesday.

Established in 1994, The Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards host high school students as they perform and receive awards for their school musical productions.

Each year, 15 schools are accepted into the program designed to promote and celebrate the arts in high school students.

All high schools in the Beaver, Butler and Lawrence County areas were invited to attend.

The program is named after the beloved composer and West Aliquippa native Henry Mancini. During his long career in the music industry, Henry was regarded as the most important film composer of his time and one of Pennsylvania's most successful musicians. He was nominated for an unprecedented 72 Grammy awards, and won 20. Nominated for 18 Oscars, he won 4, as well as a Golden Globe and 8 gold record.
