PITTSBURGH — Ji Hwan Bae hit a three-run homer for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Pirates a 7-4 win over the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.
For Bae, his first career walk-off hit broke a 4-4 tie after David Bednar (1-0) blew his first save of the season in the top of the inning.
Rodolfo Castro began the bottom of the ninth with a single that dropped into right. Two batters later, Andrew McCutchen singled to left, giving the Pirates runners on first and second, setting the stage for Bae.
