PITTSBURGH — The Steelers are back at their South Side facility as they prepare for Friday’s pre-season game against the Jets.
Channel 11 Sports Director Jenna Harner sat down exclusively with Germie Bernard, one of the stars of the preseason so far.
The young receiver has put together an impressive camp and made a splash in the first preseason game against the Packers.
Bernard told Harner he’s picking everyone’s brains, from Aaron Rodgers to DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr.
Something impressive was Bernard’s maturity.
Bernard knows he’s going to make mistakes, he told Harner, but is excited to learn from every single one.
Harner asked how he felt about his preseason debut now that the dust has settled a bit.
“Yeah. I mean, for me it was just super fun. Living out your dreams, and then now it’s like a reality. So just doing that and then being out there with my teammates, it was very fun. I mean, I felt very confident. I felt like it was, like, natural — like I was supposed to be there. You know, I felt like I’ve been prepared for everything. So when I stepped out there, it was like, OK, you’ve been playing this game for so long, you know what I’m saying? Just go have fun.”
Harner also asked Bernard if he’s allowed himself to think about what it’s going to be like when the Steelers take the field for the season opener against the Falcons.
Bernard said he’s pictured it a little bit and is really looking forward to experiencing Steelers Nation in that setting.
