Sidney Crosby practices in full-contact jersey after concussion

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Sidney Crosby was back on the ice Friday with his teammates participating in a full practice before the Penguins prepared to return to Washington, D.C.

"I felt good," Crosby said. "Probably as good as you could expect."

Crosby suffered a concussion four days ago following a hit by Capitals defenseman Matt Niskanen in Game 3. He missed Game 4 on Wednesday night, but could return Saturday for Game 5.

Crosby left open that possibility.

"We'll see. I don't want to rule it out," he said.

Crosby's history of dealing with head injuries gives him an idea of exactly where he is in the rehab process.

"I think having gone through this. I'd like to think I'm pretty aware of my body," he said. "I have a lot of belief in our staff here. They're going to do everything in their power to make sure I'm good when I come back. I trust them. I trust the process that you have to go through. Whenever it's time, I'll be ready."

Head coach Mike Sullivan agreed. He said Crosby will only play when the doctors give the green light.

"We rely on our medical staff to advise us and help us make the best decision. The priority has always been on the health of our players first and foremost.  It'll never change," Sullivan said.

Game 5 against the Washington Capitals is Saturday at 7:45 p.m. on WPXI Channel 11.
