Ambridge Area School District has filed a federal lawsuit against Norfolk Southern, the third school district in Beaver County to sue the transportation company following a train derailment in February.
The school district, which has properties all within 30 miles of the derailment, claims the Feb. 3 accident and subsequent controlled explosion in East Palestine, Ohio, released toxic chemicals into the air, soil and water.

Like the suits filed by Blackhawk and Western Beaver County school districts, the district’s lawsuit alleges Norfolk Southern was negligent.
