Bethel Park Police said they were called to the AMC Theatre just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Officers said they found a man who had been assaulted and evidence of an unknown number of shots fired when they arrived.
Ultimately, police found that no one was hit by gunfire.
Allegheny County Police said their investigation shows that a juvenile boy was arguing with a group of people who were traveling in a vehicle outside of the theater.
Police said that the vehicle was later determined to be stolen.
As the situation escalated, police said the boy struck a second vehicle and caused damage to it. The driver of that second vehicle got out and began yelling at the boy. That confrontation turned physical.
As the fight broke out, the driver of the first vehicle, an 18-year-old man, fired shots in the direction of the second driver. The boy involved in the fight then got into the vehicle from which shots had come and fled the scene.
The vehicle was found traveling through Mt. Lebanon and Dormont.
Allegheny County police said the people inside that stolen vehicle got out and ran from it along Route 19 in Dormont.
Police from multiple departments took three males into custody in that location.
On Wednesday, Allegheny County police charged 18-year-old Elijah Brown in connection with the incident. His charges include aggravated assault, receiving stolen property and carrying a firearm.
“When I got out of the car, I heard two gunshots,” said Mike Singer. “So, I get out of the car, and I look at what’s happening, and there are two guys in the middle of the street on the ground fighting, punching each other. Next thing ya know, they stand up and walk away together, really weird.”
Luke Panchura, who was stopped by police while exiting the movie theater with his family, said, “We didn’t hear anything. We just walked out of the movies like it was a normal day, leaving the movie theater.”
