CLYMER, Pa. — A deadly fire in Indiana County has left a family devastated.
Emergency crews were called to a duplex in the 400 block of Hancock Street in Clymer at 4:14 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police say. Both sides of the duplex were occupied when the fire occurred.
Crews arrived to find a fully involved fire and began extinguishing it.
One adult and two children, all of them residents, were later found dead at the home, police say. Two dogs also died in the fire.
The Indiana County Coroner’s Office identified the adult victim as 34-year-old Kirk Lee Fabiszewski. The coroner’s report says Fabiszewski and his two children were found dead in the home.
Several other people in the duplex were able to escape, and police say relatives are assisting them.
The investigation into the fire’s origin and cause is ongoing. Police say foul play is not suspected at this time.
“The first firefighters to arrive at the scene found the home to be fully involved with fire,” said Trooper Clifford Greenfield, public information officer for Pennsylvania State Police Troop A.
Neighbors on Hancock Street are having a hard time coming to terms with what unfolded.
“It’s just heartbreaking, for anyone to be in the fire…but I have grandchildren of my own,” said Bernadette Polenik, a neighbor who lives down the street.
“I saw the house burning, it was engulfed in flames. It was terrible. It was devastating, said Brenda Helman, another neighbor.
A GoFundMe campaign benefitting the victim’s family has been set up.
“Brittany Marsh recently experienced a devastating tragedy. A fire took away her home, her two daughters, and her fiancé, leaving her with unimaginable loss and heartbreak,” the campaign, started by Paige Smith, says. “Brittany is now facing the challenge of rebuilding her life from the ground up, and she needs support from all of us to help her through this difficult time.”
Funds will go toward planning funeral expenses and covering daily essentials.
A GoFundMe campaign has also been set up for the other family in the duplex.
“Bobby and his girlfriend Molly have just experienced a devastating house fire that took everything from them,” the campaign, started by Robert Ruffner, says. “In a matter of hours, their home and all of their belongings were lost. Thankfully, their beloved pets made it out safely, but Bobby and Molly are now facing the overwhelming challenge of starting over from scratch. As Bobby’s father, I’ve seen firsthand how hard they’ve worked to build their life together, and it’s heartbreaking to see them go through something so traumatic.”
Funds will help cover basic needs so they can rebuild their lives.
