2 arrests made in slaying of woman, 19, in Washington County

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Two people have been arrested in the deadly shooting of a 19-year-old woman last month, Channel 11's Cara Sapida has learned.

Alexis Barnett, of Washington, was walking down Bruce Street in the city of Washington with a group of friends when a small, silver car pulled up and someone inside began shooting at the group, authorities said. %

Barnett was taken to Washington Hospital, where she later died. Another woman suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police said Barnett and the other woman were not the intended targets of the shooting. Investigators believe the shooter was targeting a man who was walking with the group.

Details of the case are unclear, as the judge has sealed all documents.

Larry Thompson, Barnett’s father, took to social media after his daughter’s death, vowing to post a photo every day of Tavian Hooper, who was wanted in connection with the murder. %

Hooper and a man named Jamaal Greene were identified as the two people arrested.

Greene had been arrested the day after the shooting that killed Barnett on unrelated charges. Hooper was later arrested on drug charges.

Both men are now charged with homicide in Barnett’s death.
