Amy Hatfield, a 32-year-old mother, was visiting Florida when she and her uncle, Robert Massey, 59, were found dead more than a week ago in two different rooms of a mobile home. Hatfield’s boyfriend, Thomas Brown, 34, is charged in their deaths.
On Monday, authorities revealed how Amy Hatfield and Massey were killed.
Investigators said Amy Hatfield was strangled and had a ligature tied around her neck. They were told by Brown that he got into an argument with her over money before things turned physical.
“She suffered and she fought for her life,” Dana Hatfield said.
After killing Amy Hatfield, Brown went into another room and told Massey what he had done, according to police. Brown then pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed Massey until he died. %

A GPS in the car Amy Hatfield and Brown rented led authorities to Georgia. Amy Hatfield’s phone was found in an area of Cook County and Brown was located at a treatment facility in Thomasville.
Dana Hatfield said she plans to attend court dates and that her family has told police they want Brown to get the death penalty.
“I think he deserves it. He killed two innocent people for no reason and left two little girls with no mother,” Dana Hatfield said.
