Break sends water shooting into the air in Peters Township

PETERS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A water main break in Washington County Thursday morning sent water shooting into the air.

The break in a six-inch line at Venetia and Bower Hill Road in Peters Township was first reported at about 3:30 a.m.

Crews from Pennsylvania American Water were at the scene by 5:30 a.m. and had turned the water off.

There were no immediate reports of damage to nearby homes, but there were initial reports that the road had started to buckle.

About 20 customers were without water while repairs were made.
