PITTSBURGH — Barbara Baker, a mainstay at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium for 31 years, announced her retirement Thursday.
In a joint announcement with the Zoological Society of Pittsburgh’s Board of Directors, Baker will retire from her position as president and CEO of the zoo, a major regional attraction in Highland Park.

The Zoological Society has established a committee to start an international search for her successor. Baker is expected to continue to lead the zoo until new leadership is established and then she will transition into a role as president emeritus and serve as a consultant through the end of 2022, according to an announcement.
