Barbecue restaurant operator to open new meatball joint on East Carson Street

PITTSBURGH — Christie Neff is ready to serve up some meatballs and isn’t going to let a once-in-a-century global pandemic spoil her appetite for her new restaurant venture.

“No matter what happens,” Neff pledges to open her The Meatball Company as a take-out-oriented restaurant on Dec. 2, at 1220 East Carson St., a small space that neighbors the 12 Whiskey BBQ restaurant she bought in December after serving as manager of the seven-year-old restaurant.

“People are still hungry. That’s not going to change,” she said of the potential for the new restaurant amid the dicey business environment restaurants are facing under the pandemic.
