Con Alma to open second restaurant downtown in prominent location across from Heinz Hall

PITTSBURGH — Even after a pandemic year that has left the central business district feeling deserted, there was little likelihood that the former Peter Allen’s Italian restaurant space was going to stay vacant for long.

The partners in the Ellsworth Avenue restaurant Con Alma announced they have committed to opening a second location of the operation in the former Peter Allen’s, which closed in the middle of the pandemic last year in the wake of owner Peter Lauterbach’s death.

According to an announcement of the expansion, partners Executive Chef Josh Ross, General Manager Aimee Marshall, and Music Curator John Shannon were considering adding a location in the Cultural District downtown almost since the opening of the original location in Shadyside in mid-2019.
