Mero Restaurant Group to bring new restaurants to iconic former Original Hot Dog property in Oakland

PITTSBURGH — The Original Hot Dog Shop may have closed for good after nearly 60 years in the early stages of the global pandemic this past spring.

But it has only taken around six months for the owners to lease the landmark space at the corner of Forbes Avenue and Bouquet Street in Oakland in what remains a challenging commercial real estate market due to Covid-19.

Mero Restaurant Group, which operates Stack’d Burger and Beer and CHiKN a block away on Forbes, has leased the 7,000-square-foot location, long known as the home of the O, with plans in place to set up two new restaurants in the space.
