PITTSBURGH — Like most large banks, Huntington Bancshares is pruning branches because of accelerated customer preferences for digital transactions — but not in Pittsburgh. In fact, Huntington (NASDAQ:HBAN), which opened its first new local site in recent years last summer, in Sewickley, has at least two more in the works, starting with the Strip District.
The branch, at 1800 Smallman Street, will debut later in 2021, Susie Shipley, president of Huntington National Bank’s Western Pennsylvania and Ohio Valley Region, confirmed.
“The Strip District is a very special place in our region, it’s part of the fabric of who we are,” Shipley said. “Think about that corner. It’s near shops and restaurants, across from the Terminal development and close to the residential developments.”
