PITTSBURGH — Each year, Livability.com, an organization that collects data on small- to- mid-sized cities across a variety of topics pertaining to livability, releases its Top 100 Best Places to Live rankings.
For its 2022 rankings, Pittsburgh came in at spot No. 9, with a livability score of 658 out of a total of 800 available points.
The rankings utilize 50 different data points across eight categories: Amenities, economy, demographics, housing, social and civic capital, education, health care and transportation and infrastructure. Livability said that it obtains its data from a multitude of sources, including the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Livability also based its rankings this year on a survey of adults across the country that analyzed what those surveyed would find valuable in a prospective home community, as well as how their needs have changed due to inflation.
