HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corp. is teeing up the county's next major development project.

The nonprofit announced its board has authorized an agreement to buy 110 acres of land that spans Hempfield and Unity Townships for a new mixed-use development.

Referring to the site that less than a mile from U.S. Route 30 as the “George’s Station Road property,” the WCIDC expects to follow through and buy a property that has been under the ownership of Westmoreland County, at a total cost of $2.4 million for what is raw land, based on an independent appraisal.
