Butler couple hopes thief will return stolen wedding rings

A man who allegedly broke into a home while a woman was in the shower and stole her wedding bands is in custody, police said.

James Musser is accused of breaking into the Butler City home over the weekend. The victims said they’re scared for their security, and they’re heartbroken that the wedding rings haven’t been found.

“The most important thing was her ring, her wedding ring,” the husband said. “So we lost her band and are looking for it right now.”

The husband said he saved for eight years to buy the perfect ring for his wife and, in an instant, the set was gone.

Butler City police showed Channel 11 some of the evidence they recovered after arresting Musser. Police said Musser has been a problem for four months. Last weekend, he’s accused of hitting the area three times, two houses on the same street.

“He's been on a spree for quite a while. We finally were able to catch him and find out where he was, while he was doing his dirty deed again,” said Butler City police deputy chief David Adam.

The husband and wife made flyers hoping to find their cherished wedding rings.

“I’m glad he’s locked up, but in the same sense, that doesn’t give you peace of mind,” he said.

Musser is in jail on more than $200,000 bond on multiple charges.

Anyone with information about the missing rings is asked to call police.
