Channel 11 News announces new morning news anchor

PITTSBURGH — WPXI-TV is adding Katherine Amenta to the Channel 11 Morning News team.

The announcement was made Friday by News Director Mike Oliveira.

Katherine will co-anchor the newscast with Joe Arena from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. weekdays beginning in August.

Before joining WPXI, she anchored the morning newscast at NewsChannel 8 in Washington, D.C.

“Katherine is going to be a fantastic addition to the morning team,” Oliveira said. “In addition to being a strong anchor and journalist, she’s the type of person who will have a positive effect on our newsroom and our community.”

“I am joining an amazing team,” Amenta said about her move to Pittsburgh. “Originally a Pennsylvania girl, I’m very lucky to have so many family and friends nearby. Plus, as a big sports fan, Pittsburgh is obviously the perfect city! I already have Pirates fever and can’t wait to see what the rest of the season holds!”
