Cheetos shoplifter tried to burn down gas station when caught, police say

ST. LOUIS — A Missouri man who tried to steal a bag of Flaming Hot Cheetos was caught red-handed, according to police.

Joshua Crook was taken into custody after St. Louis police said the 33-year-old man punched a gas station employee who confronted him.

Police said Crook then walked outside the station, where he grabbed a gas pump nozzle and threw it on the ground.

As gasoline began pouring out of the pump, Crook allegedly threw a lit cigarette onto the ground in an effort to start a fire.

Crook failed, police said, and no one was hurt.
