PITTSBURGH — A father is facing charges of child endangerment after police said he left five children under the age of 10 alone Wednesday afternoon.
According to court papers obtained by Channel 11 News, a neighbor in Crafton Heights found one of 36-year-old Michael Moore’s children wandering naked in the woods near Crucible Street.
The woman told police that she put a diaper on the 3-year-old and tried to find his parents. When she couldn’t locate them, she called police.
After officers arrived, they saw four more boys come out of the woods. Two of them had been chasing a dog.
The children told police that their mother works at a Rite Aid and their father “works all day and night,” according to the court paperwork.
Moore said he thought the boys’ mother “would be home around four, leaving the children alone for only a half hour,” court paperwork said.
But police said that based on what they were told by the children and witnesses, the children were left alone longer.
The boys called their mother, who came to pick them up. She has not been charged.
