NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK — The Zika virus can cause a rash and bloodshot eyes and doctors in New York have released photos from one affected patient so people know what to look for if Zika starts spreading in this country.

These are photos of a 44-year-old New York man who vacationed in Puerto Rico.

Within a few days of coming home, he started feeling tired and developed a headache. His eyes became blood shot and a red rash appeared across his body.

He also had joint pain.

Mosquitos are the main way for Zika to spread. Most people only have mild symptoms.
