Donald Trump talks mining, Roethlisberger at Moon Township rally

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump returned to the Pittsburgh area for a rally Saturday.

The rally was held at a hangar at Atlantic Aviation in Moon Township and got underway shortly after 3:30 p.m.

Saturday’s rally was Trump’s second in the Pittsburgh area, and the first since he secured the number of delegates needed to win the GOP nomination. %

During his speech, which lasted about an hour, he emphasized the need to bring jobs back to the United States.

“It's about jobs. We have to bring jobs back to our country,” Trump said.

He promised that as president he would put miners back to work, a statement that drew loud applause from the crowd.

On a lighter note, Trump made a shoutout to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

“I love Big Ben,” Trump said. “I just spoke to him. What a great guy. And he’s with us 100 percent.”

Saturday’s rally had a much different atmosphere than his previous one in the Pittsburgh area.

In April, Trump made an appearance at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Oakland for a taping with Fox News’ Sean Hannity. A rally was held the same day at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

A clash between protesters and supporters outside April’s rally resulted in three people being arrested and four officers being treated for minor injuries.

Allegheny County police assisted the Secret Service with security for Saturday’s rally, during which there was no noticeable presence of protesters. However, heat disrupted the rally for about a half-dozen supporters who suffered heat-related injuries. One person was taken to a hospital.

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will be in Pittsburgh to campaign Tuesday.
