PITTSBURGH — The community surrounding East Ohio Street is looking to make a turnaround, but after two shootings in the past four days, crime is a growing concern.
A 36-year-old man from McKees Rocks was shot in the leg outside of J.R.’s Bar Monday morning after attempting to break up an argument, according to police.

Following the shooting, the man made his way to Allegheny General Hospital on his own.
“There’s a lot of work to be done. That’s for sure,” Aaron Auber said.
Auber, who owns J.R.’s Bar on the North Side, said he has been dealing with some of the same issues for years. He believes the recent incidents aren’t helping the community.
“This sort of slows everything down,” Auber said.
He fears that the reputation the East Ohio neighborhood is receiving could turn people off from occupying the area.
“Everything is a worry when stuff like this happens,” Auber said.
One block away from J.R.’s, another victim was shot Friday and was treated for nonlife threatening injuries.
