Father accused of abusing his son turns himself in to police, says he's innocent

WILKINSBURG, Pa. — A father accused of abusing his son surrendered to police Thursday.

With his attorney by his side, David Bryant, 25, turned himself in to police.

He said it was a difficult decision for him because he's innocent.

According to Bryant's attorney, her client rushed to Dilishia Salter's home after a series of text messages.

"'Come and get your kid.  I left him out by the trash.  I beat him. I don't care what happens to him,'" attorney Wendy Williams said.

Williams said Bryant thought Salter may have been joking.

"He did not know when he began videoing that the child had actually been abused," she said.

What Bryant recorded is too disturbing to show, Channel 11's Pamela Osborne reported.

Salter told police Bryant pushed a television on top of the child, causing the injuries.

"He's the one that called medics and who sought care from a neighbor," said Williams.

"I love him," said Bryant.

Meanwhile, the child's mother appeared on court Thursday morning and is facing additional charges in the young boy's abuse. READ MORE HERE.
