Kennywood Park Lists Pitt Fall Ride For Sale

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa.,None — The tallest ride on the Kennywood Park skyline could be coming down.

Channel 11 learned that the amusement park has put the Pitt Fall up for sale.

The popular 252-foot-high ride has been at Kennywood for 14 years and now its future is up in the air.

With its 20 second rise, then sudden 4-second drop, it's also one of the park's most thrilling rides.

Channel 11 came across an ad on Facebook listing the iconic tower for sale and stopped by to speak with the public relations manager, who explained it's not unusual to shop rides out from time to time.

"A lot of what goes into replacing a ride is popularity. The Pitt Fall isn't always the longest line and is not the most popular," Kennywood spokesman Jeff Filicko said.

Last season, the Turnpike was replaced by the new Sky Rocket which has been a huge hit with park goers.

Reaction to selling the Pitt Fall has so far has been mixed

"I don't want that one to go away. That's a good time," said one park goer.

"It's a nice ride but I think it's lost its zeal," said another rider.

On Facebook, people are also split right down the middle. One person wrote, "Please don't sell it - keep it at Kennywood!!!!"

Another said, "Never cared for this one, I won't miss it."

Park officials said ultimately, they do whatever is best for their patrons

The ride has been listed for three days and so far there have been no offers.
