WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. — One person was killed in a two-vehicle head-on collision on Route 286 in Washington Township Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency dispatchers in Westmoreland County confirmed the accident, which happened just after 5 p.m. near Route 286's intersection with Branthoover Lane.

The Westmoreland County Coroner's Office identified the driver who died as Charles Gestrich, Jr., 45, of Avonmore.
Another person was transported from the scene by ambulance to a local hospital.
Washington Township police are investigating the crash.
