Police paperwork for 10 people reveals their alleged involvement in a drug trafficking ring throughout several Westmoreland and Allegheny County communities.
“We should get rid of the drug dealers and have that out of our communities, especially for the children because they have no control over it,” said Sam Thornton of Murrysville.
That’s the reaction in the Westmoreland County Community after the attorney general’s office announced the arrest of these 10 people, some from the Pittsburgh area.
The attorney general’s office is expected to speak to the media Monday with more information, but here’s what we know so far.
Investigators say a multi-million-dollar drug trafficking ring was being operated out of three warehouses across the state.
According to The Tribune-Review, one of those warehouses was at 121 Pennant Drive in Plum Borough.
Investigators say those charged were distributing illegal high-potency marijuana and THC-related products to different stores, some even getting into the hands of children.
People in the area say parents need to pay attention to their kids with the dangers of drugs being so close to home.
“I think they have to be very aware of things, which with social media, they should be. They should be well informed and just watch who their kids are with and where they go,” said Thornton after hearing about children involved in the investigation.
The Attorney General confirmed children and adults across the state took these illegal drugs. It also said the organization laundered millions of dollars.
