Officials pronounced the 17-year-old, identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office as Jason Daniels, of McKeesport, dead at the scene. The 15-year-old was taken to an area hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening wounds.
Investigators said the motive is unclear, but it is believed that the 17-year-old was the intended target and the shooting was possibly in retaliation for a previous shooting.
Daniels’ grandmother, Rev. Dr. Lenora Graves, who lost her son in January and her husband in May, spoke briefly with Channel 11 Monday.
"(He was) a good boy with a good heart," she said. "But good hearts can change."
