BRADDOCK HILLS, Pa. — Allegheny County police said an 18-year-old was killed during an attempted robbery in North Braddock Tuesday night.
According to investigators, three men tried to rob Brandon Johns in a stairwell of his grandmother's apartment building on Brinton Manor Drive.
Investigators said Johns was armed when he was approached by the men and they exchanged gunfire.
Johns was killed in the shooting.
One of the suspects was also shot, police said. He later showed up at UPMC McKeesport Hospital with a second suspect, said investigators. The third suspect remains on the run.
Eugene McCarthy, age not available, will be charged with homicide, robbery and other crimes, said Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman. The other two suspects have not been identified.
