2 Carrick High School students charged in cinder-block attack, robbery in Arnold

PITTSBURGH — Two Carrick High School students are facing several charges after police said they attacked a man in Arnold last month with a cinder block and robbed him.

Investigators said Shakquan Hickman and Eric Johnson, both 16, were arrested by school police Thursday morning.

Police said on Nov. 3, the teens approached 29-year-old Ethan Rappolt, who was working on his car on Fruend Alley in Arnold.

“They repeatedly told me they were going to stab me if I didn’t comply with each and every demand,” Rappolt said. “I was pretty concerned. I wasn’t going to argue with them, I know better than that.”

The police report states the boys hit Rappolt over the head with a cinder block and stole his wallet and cellphone.

“I can still feel (the bruise). I got seven staples,” Rappolt said.

Officers said Rappolt had his cellphone connected to his home computer and discovered photos of the teens. When police looked at the pictures, they said it appeared they were taken inside of a school.

After sending the photographs to other police agencies, Pittsburgh School Police identified the school and the teens in the photos.

“That’s absolutely them. I will know them from anywhere the rest of my life,” Rappolt said.

The boys, who are being charged as adults, face robbery, criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, terroristic threats and reckless endangerment charges.
