2 shootings reported minutes apart in Pittsburgh neighborhoods

PITTSBURGH — Police are investigating two shootings in the Knoxville and Homewood neighborhoods minutes apart Wednesday night.

Authorities said the first shooting was reported just before 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Knox Avenue and Bausman Street in Knoxville.

Police said a 17-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen. The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital in critical condition.

According to police, the second shooting was reported just after 7:30 p.m. on Hamilton Avenue in Homewood.

Investigators said the man who was shot was in serious but stable condition. His name has not been released.

Both shootings remain under investigation, and police have not said if they are related.
