3 barges break loose on Ohio River

McKEES ROCKS, Pa. — Authorities said high winds may have contributed to three barges breaking loose from a tugboat between the West End and McKees Rocks bridges in the Ohio River Thursday afternoon

The Coast Guard and Pittsburgh River Rescue responded to the incident, which occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m.

Officials said the tug crew was able to corral the barges near the pier of a railroad bridge that spans the Ohio to Brunot Island.

No injuries were reported in the incident, and the loose barges didn't cause any many damage.
