• $30K in illegal fireworks seized in Indiana County

    Updated:

BLAIRSVILLE, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police confiscated about $30,000 worth of illegal fireworks Monday night in Indiana County.

According to police, troopers seized the fireworks from Big Ed’s Outlet in Blairsville just before 6 p.m. Monday.

Investigators said undercover officers made an illegal purchase, which led to the bust.

Trooper John Matchik said, “These devices, if they get into the wrong hands, they could be quite dangerous. So that's why the laws are out there.”

State police said charges are pending.

Although fireworks are illegal in Pennsylvania, state police said sparklers, small, ground-based novelty fireworks and other devices that contain a small amount of powder are legal.
