PITTSBURGH — 11 Investigates has learned that the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office has asked the judge for yet another extension to keep that City Hall search warrant sealed.

The most recent extension granted by the judge last month is set to expire this coming Saturday, but the DA’s office filed a motion to keep the search warrant sealed for another 30 days.

The judge has yet to rule on that extension, but she has already granted several other 30-day extensions.

The DA says the search warrant should remain sealed so it doesn’t tip off any potential targets.

As 11 Investigates first reported, the search warrant was seeking information and documents from the administration of former Mayor Ed Gainey.

District Attorney Stephen Zappalla has said he has a lot of questions about no-bid contracts and money that was funneled through the Stop The Violence grants.

No charges have been filed yet and the investigation is apparently still ongoing.

The initial search warrant was issued back in March and sealed for 60 days. The DA filed for extensions in May, June, July and now August. The judge granted the request for May, June and July.
