Allegheny County partners with Uber to drive more people to summer concert series

PITTSBURGH — Allegheny County has partnered with transportation service Uber to offer a free ride to anyone interested in attending a summer concert in either South Park or Hartwood Acres.

County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said Tuesday in a press release that anyone interested will receive a free ride of up to $20 to one of the concert locations.

However, anyone who uses the free ride would be responsible for paying the cost of their return trip.

The move is designed to get more people out to the summer concert series at South Park and Hartwood Acres.

“If you’ve never been to one of our concerts and never used Uber, this is a great opportunity to check out both,” Fitzgerald said.

Anyone interested will first have to download the Uber app in either the App Store or Google Play.

Once downloaded, the user will have to enter the code “ACSummer” to take advantage of the free ride.

Uber is an on-demand transportation service that bills users directly to their credit cards, so there is no reason to have cash on hand.

The app is free to download.
